Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American British sitarist and musician. She won the British House of Commons' Shield as the youngest, and first female recipient. Apart from the nine Grammy awards and nine Grammy nominations, she also became the first Indian-born musician to present at and perform in the live ceremony. Anoushka is the rising star in Indian sitar. She's a child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in 1982, she was raised in London. Her childhood years included a period of time between London as well as New Delhi. Her debut performance was at New Delhi when she was thirteen years old. She graduated in 1999 from her high schooling within Encinitas CA. Her career as a performer and recorder is quite impressive, in spite of her youth. Her father has been with her to numerous performances over many years. In 1998 she released her first solo album Anourag. It was followed by Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year after. Because she has performed on all the major stages in across the globe, she's performance career has been extensive.
